Rock the Cotswolds goes large

We’re getting the message about Rock the Cotswolds into many corners of Gloucestershire, West Oxon and the surrounding area. We’re doing lots and people are getting it.

But we also want to get the news out further afield to the cities of the UK, so urbanites realise what they’re missing and they can have it all…the best work/life balance in the most beautiful place.

So when we met a local company who do outdoor media and we told them about our big plans and ambitions for Rock the Cotswolds, that sparked a little lightbulb moment.

And out of the blue, we got the most amazingly generous offer. On the M5 at Birmingham, there are two big motorway billboards. Twelve metres across they are. They’ve big. Here’s one of them taken from the Google Streetview van.

And incredibly, these lovely people said that we could put two Rock the Cotswolds advertisements up there for a few months. For free! They would also print the posters and install them (20 metres up on an elevated section by Junction 1). What superstars they are.

Well we nearly jumped out of our neon pink troosers! What a perfect way to get the message to millions of people driving up and down the M5. A mere 65 million people a year go past those billboards.

So it was time to put our creative thinking caps on to come up with a simple idea that would catch the eye, not take too long to read if you’re whizzing along at 80mph and drive people to our website or social media.

We knew straight away that we wanted to use an image of one of our Rockers, Mona Turnbull. She is a body artist and for one of our recent events, she had painted the beautiful model Verity Millet with a food and drink theme.

The photo had been taken by another of our Rockers, McPhersonStevens photography. So all we needed was a copy line or two and a design (it’s not as easy as it sounds).

And much discussion, Photoshop wizardry by the wonderful Graham, who does all our design work, and back and forth, we agreed on these two ads.

Do bear in mind they’re three metres high and 12 metres across!

So then it was a case of wanting to see the actual posters loud and proud on the M5. It was time for a road trip. They look bleeding beautiful…

It’s a massive moment for our campaign to rock the Cotswolds and we cannot thank the local anonymous media company enough. You know who you are!

Question: does anyone else reading this have any other potential media space where we could get the RTC message out there? Bus or train companies, educational establishments, bars, restaurants or hotels with those posters in the toilets, companies with notice boards, etc, etc.

If you can help us spread the message, then we’d love your support. Please email us at hello@rockthecotswolds.com. Every little helps.
