We can’t wait until our first ‘Rock’tober’ business conference

Four of the UK’s most successful business people will be on stage at our first ever business conference on October 15, being held at the award-winning Elmore Court.

This is what it looks like when it’s set up for a wedding. Gorgeous eh? Expect it to look a bit more ‘business-y’ for our gig (but not much).

‘Business Rocks’ is Rock the Cotswold’s version of a business conference. We call it a ‘rockference’. Forget ‘death by powerpoint’ presentations from rent-a-speaker, we’ve attracted the highest profile speakers who have never shared a stage before. After they’ve told their individual business success stories and given their secret for worldwide corporate domination (no flip charts, we promise) we’re going to invite them to answer questions from the audience, who are no slouches in expertise themselves. It’s going to be a blast.

So, a drumroll please for our brilliant speakers: PR supremo Mark Borkowski, who’s managed clients from Eddie Izzard to Cirque du Soleil, and corporates such as Vodafone and Mercedes.

Retail guru George Davies, who gave life to national brands Next, George at Asda and Per Una, and who’s now doing the same for his latest brand FG4.

Sarah Dunning, the food visionary who opened the UK’s coolest motorway services on Gloucester’s M5 motorway earlier this year will reveal how she’s reprising the success of Westmoreland Services in the Cotswolds.

And Chris Wright, who signed bands such as Blondie and Spandau Ballet to his record label Chrysalis, and who launched Heart Radio in the 90s will be interviewed by former TV presenter Anne Dawson, now head of media at the University of Gloucestershire.

The event will give invited delegates a unique take on success, power and influence, and what makes a successful business tick.

National audit, tax and advisory firm Crowe Clark Whitehill, which has offices in Cheltenham are our headline sponsors. Not your usual accountants we think?

Cirencester based commercial solicitors Tanners, NatWest Bank and Gloucestershire’s Growth Hub, are also sponsoring the event. The Growth Hub is the single front door to business support in Gloucestershire. It aims to support every ambitious business in the county to support growth. We give a rocking big thanks to all our sponsors.

It’s going to be an inspirational ‘rockference’. Our speakers have experience and strong opinions, and we’re looking forward to seeing them unleash their ideas on our audience. We hope our audience bite back.
