A Rock the Cotswolds ‘Rocker’ is a business, person, event, harity or venue in the Cotswolds, an area not always associated with cool.

Rock the Cotswolds aims to boost the local economy and inward investment into the Cotswolds  helping the region attract and retain skilled people. Each month we showcase five new Rockers. Every Rock the Cotswolds Rocker has or does something unique, edgy or very, very well.

The latest Rock the Cotswolds Rockers are:

Prudence Staite creates fabulous art out of food from her studios at Pamington, Tewkesbury. Want the Mona Lisa in Ice Cream? Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe made of Smarties? Or Chris Evans, Jonathan Ross or Robert Pattison in chocolate? She’s made them all, and is regularly celebrated for it in the media.

Prudence thinks art should be an experience that should not only stimulate the eye, but the whole body and senses, and ultimately the stomach. She loves  that people, at any age, can be involved with her art and really get involved by eating, digesting and ultimately destroying her work, which has often taken weeks to create.

Concierge Medical Practice

Dr! Dr! I live in the Cotswolds. “Don’t worry! The countryside is totally painless.” These good doctors set up their private concierge GP practice near Compton Verney in 2013 and their members have been benefitting from round-the-clock personal medical care ever since. You might have the Cornish coast, Doc Martin, but our boys have got the Cotswold hills.

New Brewery Arts

A fabulous art space in Cirencester sharing high quality contemporary craft and dedicated to encouraging everyone to enjoy art. So much so that it’s currently building visitor accommodation. The Barrel Store will also be the first public passivhaus building in Gloucestershire – that means it will have a very low carbon footprint. So it’s guests can sleep easy! The cafe makes a mean cup of coffee too.

Ruck off Cancer

When a handful of rugby players from Cirencester remembered a close friend who lost his battle against cancer, something special was started. The boys set themselves a target of raising £5,000 for Cancer Research UK. They raised more than £20,000 which has earned them recognition from the RFU.

In September they’re off again: 700 miles over ten days in the Tour de Ruck. You can still support them.
